  1. Decide where to place the gaugeART unit. The gaugeART adapter must be located inside the cabin away from moisture. The unit should be placed where the front of the unit (side with micro SD card slot) can be accessed to remove and replace the micro SD card.

  2. Connect power & ground. If you purchased a gaugeART ECU-specific data & power cable – skip this step. Connect the power wire (red) to 3 amp fused +12V ignition power source. Connect the ground wire (black) to the chassis ground. Note: many ECUs have accessory +12V and ground sources that may be used (check with your ECU manufacture for compatibility).   3. Connect CAN low and CAN high. If you purchased a gaugeART ECU-specific data & power cable – skip this step. Connect the CAN low (green) and the CAN high (white or yellow) wire to the appropriate locations on your ECU using the terminals supplied with your ECU (and connector if your ECU requires a separate CAN connector). For more information on terminals and connectors required for your ECU for CAN wire termination, please contact your ECU manufacture.
    NOTE: proper terminal crimping is critical. ECU terminals require special crimping tools for open barrel terminals. Inexpensive open barrel crimping tools can be purchased online (example: IWISS SN-28B).
  4. Install microSD memory card on the side opposite of the cables into the gaugeART Video Gauge Adapter (note: the card is installed with the face down relative to the top of the adapter. The card should “click” into place. Press down on the card to remove it from the adapter.
  5. Connect video cable to gaugeART Video Gauge Adapter. Connect the gaugeART adapter to the VGA cable supplied to the display. If you no longer have the cable, or need a longer one, inexpensive replacements are available from sources like Amazon.com (example: 6-ft cable). If your video display does not have a VGA input (like many in-dash navigation systems), a composite – VGA converter or HDMI – VGA converter is required. See this link for more information. Note the gaugeART Video Gauge Adapter has a USB port for powering an optional composite converter. This port is for power only.
  6. Select source. Turn vehicle on. See the instruction guide included with your display to set the input source connected to the gaugeART Video Gauge Adapter.
